Boarding Cattery Information

About the Cattery

The boarding cattery was founded by the late Veronica Huthwaite in 1958 and is licensed by Shepway District Council to board up to 70 cats. It is operated by Seathwaite Boarding Cattery Ltd, a company wholly owned by the charity, with all profits covenanted back to support the Sanctuary.

Visitors are welcome to inspect the cattery during opening hours.

Our Facilities

  • Individual pens for one cat, or shared pens for two, three, or more cats

  • Generously sized pens providing ample space, fresh air, and room to exercise

  • Thermostatically controlled heated beds in every pen

  • Additional heat panels for colder periods

Everything your cat needs is provided, but you are welcome to bring familiar items such as toys or a favourite blanket.

Food & Care

We provide both wet and dry food unless your cat requires a prescription diet. You may bring your own food if preferred, but boarding fees remain unchanged.

An up‑to‑date vaccination certificate must be shown on arrival.

We have an arrangement with our vet for immediate attention should a cat become unwell during its stay.

Booking Information

The cattery becomes fully booked quickly for Easter, summer holidays, and Christmas, so early booking is essential.

We may request a 50% deposit at the time of booking. This deposit is non‑refundable if cancellation is made with fewer than seven days’ notice.

Bookings for two or more cats

If you are booking two or more cats in, please let us know whether they need separate pens or if they can share a pen happily.

We also have a small number of low‑level pens suitable for elderly cats or those unable to jump. These can be reserved on request.

Vaccination Requirements

We cannot accept any cat that has not been vaccinated against:

  • Feline enteritis

  • Cat flu

Vaccinations must have been completed within the last 12 months. Certificates must be presented before admission. We will refuse entry if a current certificate is not provided.
